A Sewing Machine Brand Comparison

Sewing is a hobby founded on problem solving, but having a quality and reliable machine to sew with can take away many headaches. I’m sure a lot of us have other sewers in our families or friends who we can lean on for trying out different brands of sewing machines before we buy one, but if you don’t have someone like that in your life I’m here to help!

I’ve compiled a list of six reliable, high quality, and intuitive brands of sewing machine manufacturers. To help compare your options if you are in the market, I tried to list a general price range but you may need to find a dealer for the brand since not all of these are sold from their websites. I also linked a comparable machine for each of the brands so you can see what features are included on their more basic sewing machines for yourself.

(To be transparent: I was not contacted, paid, or otherwise influenced by any of these brands for these reviews)

Singer:

  • Types of sewing machines offered: Mechanical & computerized, heavy duty, quilting, serger, embroidery

  • Price range: $160-$1,100

  • SC220 Sewing Machine: $300

  • I know many people who use Singer machines (including my own mother and aunties!) so a lot of mentors may be available to you with this machine. They are a great option for beginners.

Brother:
